I am currently a Finance major at the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin and will be joining Bank of America this upcoming summer. I previously served as a STEM tutor for a non-profit organization, where my lessons in robotics and related fields reached more than 500 students.
I have extensive experience working with peers and younger students in mathematics, reading, and business fundamentals, including involvement with DECA competitions. I am a licensed teacher in the U.S. with 33 years of classroom experience in Texas and Colorado. I am certified in Elementary Education and Bilingual/ESL through 12th grade, and I am fluent in Spanish and English. I hold a M.ED. in Curriculum and Instruction (ESL, Reading Specialist, and Master Reading Teacher) and a BA in Bilingual/ESL Education.
I work with children through 8th grade in ESL or bilingual Reading (English/Spanish), with K-5th grade students in Elementary Math, and with adults in English as a Second Language.
My teaching will include games, modeling work, introducing vocabulary, short videos to help difficult concepts, student practice, and discussions about understanding concepts. I will assess through our daily work in order to plan for the next sessions. I look forward to learning together!
